Position Overview: As a Mid-Level Electrical Engineer/Designer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and implementing electrical systems for supermarket projects. You will work closely with architects, mechanical engineers, and clients to ensure our designs meet industry standards, energy efficiency goals, and project requirements. This role requires a high degree of independence, with the ability to take ownership of design tasks from concept to completion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act with a high degree of independence while designing electrical systems including lighting, power distribution, and low-voltage control systems for supermarket and retail environments.
- Prepare equipment and general area power plans, lighting plans, single-line diagrams, panel schedules, control plans & risers using AutoCAD software.
- Collaborate with Architects, Consulting Engineers, and Project Managers to integrate systems seamlessly into the overall building design.
- Conduct site visits and field inspections to identify and document existing conditions and ensure designs are properly implemented.
- Review construction documents prepared by Architects and Consulting Engineers based on project design requirements and identify and document areas of non-conformance.
- Review vendor shop drawings for conformance with project requirements.
- Communicate effectively with Consulting Engineers, Construction Managers/Building Trades, Equipment Suppliers, and Client Representatives to ensure smooth coordination and project implementation.
- Assist in developing cost estimates, material selection, and value engineering efforts.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical design challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work directly with senior staff to develop and continuously improve department design and execution standards.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and 5 years of relevant experience or 10 years of relevant experience without degree, required. Experience is preferably in retail, commercial, or supermarket environments.
- Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD. Proficiency in AutoCAD MEP/Architecture and Revit is a plus.
- Strong proficiency with Electrical Engineering principles, practices, process, design/build, and the application to permitting and project work-related issues and a strong knowledge of relevant codes and regulations.
- Experience with lighting design, power distribution, and low-voltage systems.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to engage and coordinate effectively with various stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
