We are seeking a senior‑level Traffic Signal Engineer to join our Consultancy Services team.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the Health & Safety and professional development of direct reports (where applicable).
  • Deliver a wide range of traffic engineering projects across the UK to high standards, in line with current local standards, guidance and best practice.
  • Ensure projects meet ergonomic, economic and sustainable principles.
  • Assess and mitigate risks associated with traffic engineering projects.
  • Travel to site visits, validations and customer meetings, including overnight stays where appropriate.
  • Prepare technical reports and specifications, and conduct technical checking/approval of traffic engineering schemes prior to delivery to customers.
  • Prepare consultancy/design quotations.
  • Manage project and financial tracking.

Qualifications & Experience

  • High‑level communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills for complex traffic engineering challenges and manage customer expectations.
  • Ability to achieve objectives within strict deadlines and self‑manage workload.
  • Technical, in‑depth understanding and proven track record in: traffic signal design fundamentals and UK standards/specifications; traffic engineering software such as Auto CAD, Key Signals, Lin Sig or Transyt; traffic signal products; UTC or UTMC systems; adaptive control strategies such as SCOOT or MOVA; setup and on‑site validation; factory and site acceptance testing.
  • Educational requirement: HNC/HND/Degree level in engineering or equivalent experience.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base salary plus annual bonus.
  • 26 days holiday, rising to 29 days with service.
  • 37.5‑hour working week.
