We are looking for a Substation Attendant to support the Asset Operations team in the construction assurance, operations, and maintenance of our high‑and low‑voltage networks. This is a hands‑on, multifunction role, offering the chance to gain valuable experience in network delivery, inspections, and maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure networks are constructed to approved design standards and comply with legislation.
- Compile and manage nonconformity audit reports, coordinating remedial actions with Project Delivery Teams.
- Maintain knowledge of legislation relevant to the design, ownership, and operation of HV/EHV networks.
- Support statutory ESQCR inspections and network compliance across high‑and extra‑high‑voltage assets.
- Conduct non‑intrusive inspections including thermographic surveys, RFI checks, oil sampling, and substation condition monitoring.
- Support intrusive maintenance programmes during outage periods.
- Act as a first responder during fault conditions.
- Complete non‑outage defects and remedial actions as required.
- Represent the business on‑site and at customer locations, upholding company values.
About You
- Familiar with legislation relating to utility assets, site H&S, and environmental requirements.
- Some knowledge or experience in electrical distribution or similar industries, with focus on site operations and safety.
- Ability to achieve and maintain authorisation under Distribution Safety Rules (DSR), minimum Competent Person.
- Ability to interpret plans, drawings, and design documentation.
- Strong communicator capable of influencing operational staff while maintaining customer relationships.
- Self‑motivated with a willingness to learn and progress towards Senior Authorised Person status.
- Familiarity with Safe Systems of Work including Point of Work Risk Assessments.
Permanent position; travel to sites as required.
Salary: £32,000.
