Purpose
To manage project delivery to time, cost and quality, utilising and managing the appropriate resources, over the project lifecycle in line with strategic business objectives, priorities, and plan. The role will support WM5G’s portfolio of publicly funded programmes, flexing across projects as new funding and delivery opportunities are secured, and ensuring full compliance with governance and assurance requirements.

Accountabilities

  • Provide project management support to allocated projects.
  • Ensure project management best practice is identified and utilised through project delivery.
  • Manage the delivery of allocated projects such that they are delivered in accordance with specified requirements defined within the approved project control documents and/or funding requirements.
  • Carry out monitoring and control activities to track the progress of the project/s.
  • Provide regular progress and management reporting.
  • Identify and manage risks to ensure delivery is on time and to the required standard.
  • Implement any necessary changes throughout the process.
  • Manage the approved project budget and forecast and monitor the budget throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure delivery of the project through partnership working and best practice, ensuring that commitments are met and that expectations are exceeded.
  • Prepare regular project documentation in a timely, accurate and cohesive manner, providing visibility to senior management of project progress.
  • Ensure the provision of timely, accurate and cohesive input to the required internal and external project/programme monitoring processes as appropriate.

Additional responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with funder assurance, monitoring and audit requirements (e.g. DSIT, UKRI, Innovate UK or local authority frameworks).
  • Maintain project artefacts including delivery plans, risk and issue logs, dependency logs, benefits tracking and change control documentation.
  • Support benefits realisation and impact reporting, ensuring outputs and outcomes are evidenced and tracked.
  • Coordinate delivery across consortium partners, suppliers and subcontractors, managing dependencies and risks.
  • Escalate issues and risks through agreed governance routes and support corrective action where delivery is at risk.

Person Specification

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience managing complex projects, ideally in multi-partner or consortium environments.
  • Strong understanding of project governance, risk management and change control.
  • Experience managing project budgets, forecasts and financial reporting.
  • Experience delivering projects in publicly funded, regulated or assurance-led environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, accurate and timely reports.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and competing priorities.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including working with external partners and delivery organisations.
  • High attention to detail and a structured, methodical approach to delivery.

Desirable Experience & Skills

  • Experience working with or reporting to government departments, local authorities or arm’s-length bodies.
  • Familiarity with DSIT / UKRI / Innovate UK or similar funding and monitoring frameworks.
  • Experience supporting benefits realisation or impact evaluation.
  • Experience working within or alongside a formal PMO function.
  • Project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2, APM, MSP or equivalent).
