A well-established transport planning and highways consultancy is seeking a CAD Technician to join its growing team in the Midlands. The organisation provides a full range of services across transport planning, highways design, drainage, environmental planning, and infrastructure delivery across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated CAD Technician to join a collaborative consultancy environment, working on a variety of highways and infrastructure schemes from feasibility through to detailed design and construction.
The successful candidate will support the production and delivery of highway design solutions, working closely with engineers and planners to ensure high-quality technical outputs are delivered in line with project requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Production of highway design drawings, calculations, and technical specifications
- Supporting the delivery of highway schemes from feasibility through to construction
- Preparation of reports, drawings, schedules, and cost estimates
- Liaison with utility providers and external stakeholders
- Assisting with technical approvals from local highway authorities
- Ensuring work is delivered to programme and budget
- Supporting senior team members with reporting and project updates
- Developing collaborative relationships with clients, consultants, and stakeholders
- Supporting the delivery of highway improvements, new roads, and infrastructure schemes
- Experience within a consultancy environment (highways / infrastructure)
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (essential)
- Experience or understanding of ARCADY, PICADY, and LINSIG (desirable)
- Strong numeracy and analytical ability
- Good understanding of spreadsheets and data handling
- Strong problem‑solving skills
- Confident written and verbal communication
- Ability to work accurately with numerical and technical data
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Self‑motivated with ability to manage workload
- Professional and approachable manner with clients and colleagues
- Full UK driving licence required
