Facilities and Health & Safety Manager
About You
Do you take pride in running a great facilities operation? Does having the ownership and responsibility for a modern facility where you are instrumental in keeping a high performing manufacturing operation working at its absolute best excite you? Do you thrive on collaboration, communication and working with like-minded colleagues? If that sounds like you, we would love to speak to you.
About the role
This role joins the operations team at our Bicester site, reporting to the MD of Operations. Bicester is a manufacturing site as well as our UK head office and you’ll work as part of the UK Operations management team to keep BRITA UK operating at the highest level possible.
On the production side, we work with steam, compressed air and chilled water, with this role being responsible for managing the maintenance and repair of all of this, working closely with our internal technical team, production and our external partners to keep everything operating as planned. You don’t need to be a technical expert, but you’ll need to be comfortable working in a technical environment and understanding how that operates. We’ve been manufacturing in Bicester for more than 20 years, and we’ve invested consistently in the technology and the building over that time.
Alongside production, you are responsible for the whole building which includes a full logistics operation and our general office spaces (which have just completed an extensive refurb project). That means managing all aspects of the facilities requirements for the site, including costs and budgets and any external partners and suppliers. You’ll also manage the cleaning team, that looks after both our production and office spaces.
Combined with your facilities responsibilities, you’ll also be the health and safety lead for BRITA UK (we have two smaller sites across the UK), owning the H&S management system. You’ll help to ensure BRITA UK remains compliant with all legislation, both now and in the future, supporting on investigating and reporting on accidents if they occur.
This position is based in our Bicester office.
To be successful in this role
You’ll be a facilities professional with experience that includes working with a manufacturing site and be comfortable supporting technical plant equipment (such as steam, compressed air or chilled water). You’ll be used to working to a high standard—experience in food-grade manufacturing is beneficial—along with strong experience of managing external contracts and suppliers. From a Health & Safety perspective, a NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) is desirable, and you’ll have experience supporting and managing H&S for a site, keeping on top of legislation and legal requirements.
Managing priorities, being thorough and having great adaptability are hugely important in this role, as things can move fast sometimes, and you need to be able to switch from strategic to reactive as needed. Collaboration and communication are absolutely at the heart of everything we do at BRITA, particularly so for this position.
What’s in it for you?
- Annual salary of £45,000 - £49,000 plus bonuses of approximately 14% (package £51,000 - £56,000)
- 23 days leave per annum + bank holidays (increases with service)
- Excellent pension scheme
- Employee discount + monthly staff allocation for BRITA
