The pay range for this position ranges from $28.39/hr - $29.48/hr. This is a mid-level experience position to work in the Shipfitting Trade. Applicants will be assigned any Shipfitter trade function with limited assistance from a more experienced Shipfitter, including (but not limited to):

  • Fabrication of items made from sheet metal, steel, stainless steel, and aluminum such as hull outfit foundations, tanks, small assemblies, and bulkhead assemblies using sketches and drawings.
  • Installing items on units or on ships including set up of mock stations, layout and installation of shell/deck stringers, layout and installation of back‑up structure, layout and install hull outfit foundations using assembly sketches and blueprints.
  • Fabricating and installing major equipment foundations using fabrication sketches and drawings.

Required / Education / Training:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 1 year Technical or Vocational training in steel fabrication or carpentry trade.

Required / Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year experience in metals fabrication or installation.
  • Must be able to read blueprints in detail.
  • Must have experience working with metal, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Must meet the requirements of the Shipfitter physical task analysis.
