In the last year, the site welcomed over 240,000 visitors, reflecting a significant increase in visitor engagement. The site features a 400-year-old Grade II* listed water mill, retail shop, café, and extensive country park areas, all requiring dedicated management to maintain and enhance the visitor experience.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Conduct opening and closing procedures for site buildings.
- Perform daily site checks to ensure safety and operational efficiency.
- Maintain accurate health & safety documentation and manage site repairs and maintenance.
- Collaborate with internal FM, maintenance, and asset teams to address site issues promptly.
- Lead and support a small team, ensuring high standards of customer service and teamwork.
- Work closely with the Volunteer Manager, Volunteer Coordinator, Project Officer, and Café Manager to promote a cohesive team environment.
- Support retail operations and work with the Commercial Team to maximise income and maintain high standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in managing visitor attractions, country parks, or similar visitor-facing operational sites.
- Knowledge of the heritage sector, especially related to listed buildings and associated restrictions, is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of health & safety legislation and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to problem-solve effectively and handle unexpected issues calmly.
- Confidence in working with data and maintaining accurate records.
- A collaborative and team-focused approach with commercial awareness to support on-site retail operations.
