The successful candidate will be responsible for the fabrication, assembly and welding of structural steel components used within a wide range of construction and infrastructure projects. Working from engineering drawings, you will transform raw steel materials into accurate, high-quality structural elements in line with project specifications and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret technical and engineering drawings
- Fabricate and assemble structural steel components including: UB’s, UC’s, PFC’s, CHS’s
- Carry out cutting, grinding and welding duties
- Operate fabrication machinery, hand tools and measuring equipment safely and effectively
- Ensure fabricated work meets dimensional and quality standards
- Operate overhead cranes and lifting equipment
- Maintain a safe and tidy working environment
- Work closely with supervisors and production teams to meet deadlines
- Adhere to all health & safety procedures and PPE requirements
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience within structural steel fabrication
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
- Welding and metal fabrication experience
- Strong attention to detail and quality
- Good understanding of workshop health & safety
- Reliable, punctual and hard-working attitude
- Ability to work effectively within a team
- Fabrication/Welding qualifications are advantageous but not essential
