gap technical are representing this global manufacturing business in their search for a Mechanical Fitter / Technician / Craftsman to work at their facility near Widnes.
Responsibilities
- Design, select, maintain and install mechanical equipment
- Carry out mechanical preventive maintenance
- Fault location / diagnosis / repair
- Participate in confined space training
- Participate in First Aid training
- Participate in the site Emergency Response team
- Participate in various improvement initiatives
- Overtime available after 40 hours per week; overtime premium rates time and a half Mon-Sat and double time on Sundays
- On-call rota (one week in four) covering critical breakdowns
Qualifications and Skills
- Must hold apprenticeship or equivalent qualifications in a Mechanical discipline (e.g., NVQ level 3 or C&G Apprenticeship). Further relevant qualifications advantageous
- Good computer skills are essential
- Experience with preventive maintenance software is an advantage
- Working knowledge of Health & Safety at Work Act is essential
- Experience in the chemical industry is not vital but a manufacturing background is advantageous
- Lean Manufacturing knowledge (5S, Kaizen & 7 wastes) advantageous
- Metal and/or plastic fabrication
- Rotating equipment overhauls
- Hydraulic/pneumatic systems
- Pipework and flange making/breaking
- Knowledge of steam boiler and air compressor plant
