Role Overview
A leading specialist engineering company is recruiting an experienced Welder to join as Foreman.
The role involves manufacturing, repairs, servicing and specialist projects both in the workshop and onsite on a wide range of products.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in organising and overseeing the day‑to‑day running of the workshop.
- Communicate with the Manager and Service Department, providing regular updates of workshop activities.
- Ensure all materials and jobs are ready for welders.
- Ensure jobs are undertaken professionally and correctly.
- Carry out quality control checks.
- Act as first point of escalation for team queries.
- Prevent and minimise careless use of equipment and materials.
- Maintain welding tools and equipment in good working order.
- Adhere to and promote housekeeping, tidying and Health and Safety regulations and policies applicable to the role and workshop environment.
- Complete any other tasks as and when required.
Skills and Experience
- Previous welding/fabricating experience.
- Formal qualifications or training advantageous but not essential; time served acceptable.
- Ability to weld to high standard in MIG, MMA and TIG.
- Positive, enthusiastic mindset with a real “can do” attitude and strong teamwork ethic.
- Level‑headed and calm, demonstrating empathy, understanding and a professional persona.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong performance as a welder and able to act as a role model to the team to keep standards high.
- Approachable and helpful.
- Methodical and organised.
- Problem‑solving ability, resilience and determination.
