Due to continued growth, our client is looking to add an additional Transport Planner to their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a busy, fast-paced operation where you’ll play a key role in ensuring the efficient planning and utilisation of the fleet.
The Role
As a Transport Planner, you will play a key role in coordinating daily vehicle movements, ensuring routes are planned efficiently and cost-effectively while maximising fleet utilisation through effective backloading. You’ll be part of a fast-paced, ever-changing environment where no two days are the same, requiring strong organisational skills and the ability to think on your feet. This is a fully office based role, working five days a week from a well-located site Wetherby, offering a great working environment within a close-knit and supportive team.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and coordinate daily routes for a fleet of vehicles
- Maximise vehicle utilisation by sourcing and organising backloads
- Liaise with drivers, customers, and subcontractors to ensure smooth operations
- Monitor and adjust schedules in real-time to deal with any issues or delays
- Use internal systems and platforms to manage bookings, loads, and planning
- Ensure all work is completed in line with company and compliance standards
About You
- Previous experience within transport planning, logistics, or a similar role
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks at once
- Confident communicator, able to liaise with a range of stakeholders
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Good IT skills and confidence using planning systems
- Experience with systems such as Qargo or Haulage Exchange would be beneficial, but not essential
