Electrical Engineer in Westhill

Location: Westhill, Aberdeen or Inchinnan, Glasgow

Employment Type: Permanent position

Responsibilities:

• Provide engineering design input to new products and support the existing product range by assessing technical queries and providing engineering solutions.
• Liaise with internal JFD departments such as sales, procurement, and production to ensure the best technical solution is provided in all instances.
• Sourcing suitable components and materials when required and creation of part numbers and bill of materials.
• Creation of engineering documentation such as specifications, proposals, assembly instructions, test procedures, certification, and reports.
• Checking detailed electrical drawings and documentation, adherence to engineering and company standards and processes, and compliance with internal and external standards & regulations.
• Ensuring engineering solutions are provided on time and on budget.
• Site visits to other JFD offices and client assets as and when required.
• Accountability and responsibility as technical checker of drawings and documentation generated in support of the electrical engineer role.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Proven electrical and electronics design skills.
• Skilled in generating design calculations.
• Competent in the use of engineering design software tools/CAD packages.
• Knowledge of design standards.
• Previous product design experience, particularly DC systems, is advantageous.
• Ideally with experience from within a Graduate Engineer position.
• Experience with Product Lifecycle Management system for generating and storage of engineering packages.
• Electrical and Electronics engineering degree or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience working to marine, defence standards and class society rules (mainly LR and DNV).
• Ability to pass security clearance for this role and have the right to work and reside in the UK.
