Our client is a specialist engineering manufacturer delivering bespoke low voltage (LV) electrical solutions across a range of industrial sectors.
They design and manufacture custom switchgear, control panels, distribution equipment, transformers and packaged electrical solutions for clients throughout the UK.
About the Role
Due to continued growth, our client is looking to recruit an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join their engineering team.
Working closely with senior engineering leadership, estimators, manufacturing teams and site engineers, you will play a key role in delivering electrical design projects from concept through to commissioning.

Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed electrical designs and schematics for LV switchgear using CAD software.
- Develop functional design specifications for LV protection and control systems.
- Manage electrical projects from design through to installation and commissioning.
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, contractors and internal teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT).
- Work with estimating teams to develop technical solutions from initial concepts.
- Provide technical support to sales, production and manufacturing teams.
- Prepare technical documentation, operating manuals and maintenance manuals.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential issues and work collaboratively to resolve them.
- Deliver projects within agreed budgets and timescales.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience producing electrical designs for LV electrical systems.
- Proficiency with electrical CAD packages such as Auto CAD Electrical, EPLAN, SEE Electrical or similar.
- Good understanding of BS7671 Wiring Regulations, BS EN 61439 and relevant IEC standards.
- Strong knowledge of electrical schematics and panel layouts.
- Excellent organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Right to work in the UK.
Desirable
- HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience with MCCs and PLC programming.
- Knowledge of integrating HV equipment into LV electrical systems.
