A well‑established engineering consultancy delivering major infrastructure projects across the UK power and energy sector is seeking an experienced Principal Engineer to join its growing Civil & Structural Power team. This is a senior technical and project leadership opportunity, offering the chance to influence the delivery of complex power and energy infrastructure schemes from concept through to construction. The role combines hands‑on engineering involvement with team leadership, project management and technical mentoring responsibilities.

The successful candidate will lead the delivery of large multidisciplinary projects - or oversee several smaller schemes simultaneously - working closely with internal design teams, clients and key stakeholders across the wider business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of civil and structural engineering projects within the power and energy sector
  • Manage multidisciplinary teams to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards
  • Direct and review infrastructure design activities across a range of project sizes and technical complexities
  • Coordinate project resources and support programme planning and delivery
  • Mentor and support graduate engineers and technicians, encouraging technical development and best practice
  • Ensure compliance with quality, safety and management procedures
  • Contribute to the ongoing growth and development of the Civil & Structural Power capability within the business
Requirements
  • HNC/HND or degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Chartered status, or working towards Chartership (CEng MICE, MIStructE or equivalent)
  • Experience leading infrastructure project delivery and managing engineering teams
  • Strong technical understanding of civil and structural infrastructure design and coordination
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Experience within the power or energy sector is highly desirable, although candidates from other infrastructure backgrounds looking to transition into power will also be considered
