As the Electrical Engineering Manager, you'll lead the design and development of electrical systems for our client’s global power generator product range. Reporting to the Chief Engineer, you'll play a major role in ensuring our client’s generators remain among the most advanced, reliable and competitive in the industry. You’ll manage a team of electrical engineers across the UK and India, supporting the full product lifecycle from concept through to validation, while also helping internal teams resolve complex technical challenges. This is a technical leadership role with real influence over innovation, product performance and global growth.
Responsibilities
- Design and development of 12 and 24 Volt control systems.
- Design and development of LV power distribution systems (18kVA-1MVA).
- Electrical and electronic system and architecture definition.
- Understanding of safety critical systems and the application to electrical and electronics systems design and specification in harsh environments.
- Specifying electrical and electronic components for use in the system.
- Signing off validation of machine electrical and electronic components and systems.
- Development of technical specifications, Group Electrical Standards and instructions.
- Carrying out electrical system and installation reviews to known standards.
- Managing a team of electrical engineers (based in UK and India).
- Developing personal progression plans and building strong functioning teams.
- Ordering parts/materials to support engineering activities.
- Planning resource and budget for NPI and CPS.
- Signing off internal technical reviews and engineering sign off.
- Managing/reviewing signing off of cost down activities.
- Developing internal/external DVPSOR.
- Leading and reviewing 8D activities.
Requirements
- Passion for engineering, open minded approach and flexibility are essential attributes.
- Creative approach to problem solving and determination to see challenges through to a validated solution.
- Experience with pressure, tight deadlines, and exacting standards.
- Team player with a "hands on" approach.
- Ability to operate and manage within a team and under own initiative, interpreting specifications and leading technical discussions.
- Proven track record of project delivery.
- Educated to a minimum degree level in Electrical Engineering, or similar.
- Self‑motivated and capable of managing teams both locally and remotely.
- Significant experience in power, distribution, and control.
- Proficient in the use of Teamcentre.
- Good knowledge of legislation.
