I’m currently supporting a well-established aerospace engineering organisation in Tewkesbury with the appointment of a Product Engineer to join their operations support team. This is a key role within a specialist production cell, where you will act as the primary engineering contact for a range of precision assemblies. The position offers a strong balance of hands-on production support, technical problem solving, and continuous improvement activity.
The Role
- Take ownership of engineering support for specific products within the production environment, working closely with both operations and test teams to ensure performance, quality, and delivery targets are achieved.
- Act as the technical focal point for designated assemblies within the production cell.
- Analyse production and test data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
- Support product and process changes to enhance performance and manufacturability.
- Lead structured investigations into production and product issues, identifying root cause and implementing corrective actions.
- Collaborate with test and equipment teams to diagnose issues across mechanical, hydraulic, electronic, and software systems.
- Support the disposition of non-conforming components, including GD&T-related assessments.
- Drive improvements in yield, process capability, and overall production performance.
- Contribute to tooling and fixture concepts to support assembly and testing.
- Support ongoing initiatives around automation and digital manufacturing.
Candidate Profile
- Well-suited to an engineer with a strong manufacturing background and a practical, problem-solving mindset.
- Degree-qualified in a relevant engineering discipline (or equivalent experience).
- Approximately 5+ years’ experience within a manufacturing, production, or quality engineering environment.
- Strong mechanical engineering knowledge, with exposure to hydraulic systems.
- Experience with PFMEA, Control Plans, and Process Flow documentation.
- Familiarity with validation, verification, and performance testing methodologies.
- Understanding of precision manufacturing and assembly processes (experience with laser welding or brazing would be advantageous).
- Confident communicator, able to engage effectively across engineering and operational teams.
- Well organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
