Blaymires Recruitment is working with a long-established and highly respected Groundworks contractor based near Southampton, who is looking to appoint a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team. With over 30 years of successful trading, the company has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality groundwork packages across the South. Their workload spans speculative residential developments, housing association schemes, and a variety of infrastructure and civil engineering projects. This is a key position within the business, offering the opportunity to take full commercial ownership of multiple projects and play an integral role in the company’s continued growth.
The Role
- Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will manage multiple groundwork projects valued up to £3m
- Oversee all commercial aspects across a range of packages including bulk earthworks, deep drainage, enabling works, foundations, infrastructure, highways (S278 & S38), and surfacing
- Measurement and valuation of civil engineering and groundworks packages
- Preparation and submission of monthly applications for payment
- Identify, price, and negotiate variations with clients
- Prepare subcontract tender enquiries and review returned tenders
- Manage subcontractor accounts and payments
- Attend and contribute to monthly commercial meetings
The Candidate
- Strong background within the Groundworks sector
- Proven experience managing multiple projects in a similar role
- Good understanding of groundworks and civil engineering methodologies
- Commercially astute with strong analytical skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Full UK driving licence
