Health & Safety Officer
To lead and manage all aspects of Health & Safety, Environmental compliance, and Sustainability initiatives across the food manufacturing site. This role ensures legal compliance, promotes a culture of continuous improvement, and supports the company’s commitment to responsible manufacturing.
Safety Responsibilities
- 1. To ensure all elements of the site HSE&S plan are continually met.
- 2. To ensure all accident investigations are completed to a high standard and in a timely manner
- 3. To maintain and ensure completion of the health and safety audit action plan
- 4. To lead the implementation of improved SSOW documents and the creation of a set of key SOP’s across all the operational disciplines
- 5. To support and validate the delivery of all safety training plans across the site
- 6. To prepare and record all the necessary Health, Safety, Environmental and Sustainability data each month for KPI reporting
- 7. To ensure contractor management on site is safety compliant and competent prior to all projects commencing
- 8. To build a strong and motivated health and safety committee and lead them in a monthly meeting
- 9. Build a platform to promote health and safety on the shop floor using noticeboards, attending departmental daily meetings and engaging with operatives on the shop floor
- 10. To work with the operations teams on continuous improvement projects Environmental Compliance
- 11. Ensure adherence to environmental regulations (e.g., waste management, emissions, water usage, legionella, affluent plant)
- 12. Maintain site environmental permits and liaise with regulatory bodies
- 13. Monitor and report environmental KPIs
- 14. Lead initiatives to reduce environmental impact and improve resource efficiency.

Experience
Required:
- * Qualifications · A minimum qualification for this role is the “NEBOSH General Certification in Occupational Health and Safety”.
- * A desired qualification or working towards for this role is the “NEBOSH (or equivalent) Level 6 Diploma”
- * Environmental Certificate: IEMA Foundation certificate in Environmental Management - Desired
- * PUWER Risk assessment training and experience
- * Fire risk assessment training and experience
- * Legionella awareness training Experience
- * Experience in food manufacturing or FMCG environment
- * Strong knowledge of UK HSE legislationProven track record in driving sustainability initiatives.

- Ability to build relationships with internal and external sources
- Effective at passing on skills through coaching, mentoring and training.
- To have experience and understanding in all aspects of associated technical, health & safety and operations
