The role & about the client

ITS Building People are recruiting on behalf of a medium sized construction contractor on a major new-build industrial development in Welwyn Garden City. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a project from day one, overseeing the build from the initial groundworks package right through to steel frame, roofing etc, practical completion and handover. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the project is delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day running of a large-scale industrial construction project
  • Oversee all site activities from enabling works and groundworks through to final handover
  • Coordinate subcontractors and site labour
  • Ensure health, safety and environmental standards are maintained at all times
  • Monitor programme performance and drive progress on site
  • Conduct site inspections and quality checks
  • Liaise with project teams, clients, consultants and subcontractors
  • Manage site logistics and sequencing of works
  • Maintain site records and reporting requirements

Ideal candidate will have/be

  • Proven experience as a Site Manager delivering new-build industrial projects
  • Strong understanding of construction processes from groundworks through to completion
  • Experience managing multiple subcontractor packages
  • Excellent health and safety knowledge
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to drive programme and quality standards on site
