As Site Manager, you will take full responsibility for the day‑to‑day running of groundworks projects, ensuring safe, efficient, and high‑quality delivery on site. You will be leading site teams, coordinating subcontractors, and working closely with engineers and commercial staff to ensure programmes are delivered on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day‑to‑day site operations from mobilisation through to completion
- Lead and coordinate site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Ensure works are delivered safely, on programme, and to specification
- Oversee health, safety, and environmental compliance on site
- Monitor progress and report against programme milestones
- Work closely with engineers and quantity surveyors to resolve issues
- Manage site records, RAMS, and quality assurance documentation
- Maintain strong communication with clients and project stakeholders
- Drive productivity and maintain high standards of workmanship
Essential Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Site Manager within groundworks or civil engineering
- Strong background in delivering residential, commercial, or infrastructure groundworks packages
- SMSTS certification
- CSCS card (Gold or Black)
- First Aid at Work qualification
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple trades and subcontractors effectively
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience delivering projects in education, healthcare, or commercial sectors
- Knowledge of QA systems and contract requirements
- Engineering background or previous setting out experience
- Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) qualification
