Most technical sales roles fall one way or the other. Either you’re mostly processing quotes with little involvement in the bigger picture, or it’s heavily focused on chasing new business with constant pressure. This role sits in the middle, and that’s where it works best. You’ll be managing your own customer accounts, handling enquiries, producing quotes from technical drawings and taking work through to delivery. The new business side comes naturally through your accounts and enquiries, not through heavy outbound sales. You’ll be joining a well‑established Sheffield engineering business supplying into manufacturing. The work is steady, the customer base is repeat‑led, and the expectation is to build long‑term relationships rather than push for short‑term wins.

What the role looks like day to day:

  • You’ll be the main point of contact for your customers. That means understanding what they actually need, not just processing what’s been sent over, and making sure everything runs smoothly from enquiry through to delivery.

What you will be doing:

  • Handling incoming calls and email enquiries
  • Preparing quotes from drawings and technical specifications
  • Managing customer accounts from enquiry to delivery
  • Supporting customers with queries and problem solving
  • Working with internal teams including CAD, production and accounts
  • Maintaining and developing existing customer relationships
  • Identifying and converting new opportunities within your accounts

What they are looking for:

  • Experience in technical sales within engineering, fabrication or manufacturing
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings
  • Confident dealing with customers and managing accounts
  • Organised with strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable working independently day to day
  • IT literate including Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of metals, fabrication or cutting processes would be useful but is not essential

What you get:

  • £27,000 to £39,000 depending on experience
  • 32 days holiday including bank holidays
  • Free on-site parking
  • Monday to Friday working hours
  • Stable, long‑term opportunity with an established business
