We are looking for a Section Maintenance Engineer to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of production plant within a heavy industrial steelmaking environment. You will be responsible for maintaining key assets, minimising downtime, and driving continuous improvement in a fast‑paced, safety‑critical operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver planned preventative maintenance and respond effectively to breakdowns.
  • Fault‑find and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Take ownership of assigned plant and equipment, including cranes and heavy machinery.
  • Lead improvement activities to enhance reliability, safety, and performance.
  • Supervise contractors and ensure compliance with site safety standards.
  • Record work and manage spares using a CMMS (e.g. SAP).
  • Ensure all work complies with LOLER, PUWER, and site safety procedures.

Requirements

  • NVQ/ C&G/HNC/HND or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in steel, heavy engineering or other manufacturing such as Aerospace, Nuclear, Defence, Oil & Gas, Automotive etc.
  • Strong diagnostic and problem‑solving skills.
  • Safety‑focused approach with good communication skills.
  • 18th Edition would be advantageous.
