Maintenance Manager

I'm working with a busy food manufacturing site looking for a Maintenance Manager who can take ownership of the day-to-day engineering operation and get the best out of their team.
This is a fast-paced environment that needs someone who can think on their feet, stay one step ahead and isn't afraid of a challenge. You'll be responsible for leading shift engineers and shift leaders, keeping the factory running efficiently and making sure the team is working together to deliver.
Reporting into the Engineering Controller, you'll play a key role in the wider engineering function, with plenty of investment going into the site and real scope to make a difference.
What will you be doing?
- Managing and developing shift engineers, shift leaders and the wider maintenance team.
- Taking ownership of day-to-day maintenance across a busy manufacturing site.
- Driving preventative maintenance, reducing downtime and improving equipment reliability.
- Managing reactive issues and prioritising workloads in a fast-moving environment.
- Working closely with production to keep the factory running safely and efficiently.
- Developing your team, setting standards and holding people accountable.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and making the most of ongoing site investment.
What are they looking for?
- Experience in a Maintenance Manager or similar engineering leadership role.
- A background in food manufacturing, ideally chilled food or bakery.
- Strong people management skills. This is a big one; they need someone who can lead, motivate and manage a team effectively.
- Someone organised, proactive and able to make decisions under pressure.
- The confidence to challenge the status quo, tackle problems head-on and keep things moving.
- A hands-on approach to leadership, with the ability to balance people, performance and the day-to-day demands of the factory.
