A leading and rapidly growing groundworks and civil engineering contractor in the East Midlands is seeking an experienced Senior Site Engineer to join its delivery team on major residential and infrastructure schemes across the region. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong engineer looking to step into a senior position with a highly respected contractor known for quality delivery, repeat business, and long-term career progression.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Contracts Manager and Project Manager, you will take responsibility for the engineering function across multiple groundwork and infrastructure packages, ensuring projects are delivered safely, accurately, and to programme. Projects typically include:
- Large-scale residential groundwork packages
- Roads and sewers (278 / 38 works)
- Drainage and infrastructure
- Earthworks and plot works
- Commercial and industrial groundwork schemes
Key Responsibilities
- Managing and overseeing all site engineering activities
- Setting out for roads, drainage, foundations, and infrastructure works
- Coordinating subcontractors and site teams
- Producing and checking QA documentation and as-built surveys
- Ensuring works are delivered in line with specifications and programme
- Managing health & safety standards on site
- Liaising with clients, consultants, and local authorities
- Supporting junior engineers and mentoring site teams
- Reviewing drawings and identifying technical issues before construction
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Site Engineer or Senior Engineer within groundworks or civil engineering
- Strong background delivering residential infrastructure and groundwork packages
- Excellent setting out and surveying knowledge
- Proficient with GPS and robotic total station equipment
- Strong understanding of roads, drainage, and earthworks
- Ability to manage multiple priorities on fast-paced projects
- CSCS card essential
- SMSTS
- Full UK driving licence
