Kenton Black are recruiting for a permanent Senior Estimator position in Aberdeenshire. Our client, a well-established and highly respected civil engineering contractor with a strong presence across Scotland, is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join their commercial team. This permanent position offers an excellent opportunity to take a leading role in the bid and tendering process across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure and construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of detailed and accurate cost estimates for civil engineering and construction projects
- Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documentation to fully understand project requirements
- Manage the tender process from initial enquiry through to submission and handover
- Obtain and assess subcontractor and supplier quotations to ensure competitive pricing
- Identify project risks and opportunities, providing clear recommendations to senior management
- Collaborate with commercial and operational teams to develop robust and competitive tender submissions
- Maintain strong relationships with clients, supply chain partners, and internal stakeholders
- Support and mentor junior estimating staff where required
- Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating systems and processes
What You Bring
- Proven experience in a Senior Estimator or Estimator role within civil engineering or construction
- Strong understanding of pricing methodologies, cost planning, and tendering processes
- Experience working with a main contractor environment
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and attention-to-detail skills
- Ability to manage multiple tenders and work to tight deadlines
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Office packages
- Relevant qualification in construction, engineering, or a related discipline
