Working closely with end-users, Main Contractors, and Sub-Contractors, we provide tailored, sustainable, and practical engineering solutions for building and infrastructure projects. We operate a hybrid working policy following completion of the probationary period, offering a balance between office and home working.
We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Building Physics Engineer to join our growing team in either our Salford or Otley office. This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of projects, supporting the delivery of sustainable, energy-efficient, and regulation-compliant building designs. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing building energy performance, carrying out dynamic thermal modelling and simulations, and developing strategies to improve operational efficiency and reduce carbon emissions. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary design teams, clients, and consultants to deliver bespoke engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities- Carry out dynamic thermal modelling and building simulations using IES VE
- Assess building energy performance and support operational energy analysis
- Produce heating and cooling load calculations, heat gain/loss assessments, and HVAC modelling
- Evaluate compliance with UK Building Regulations and guidance, including Part L, Part O, TM52, TM54, TM59, and relevant BREEAM credits
- Support planning applications and sustainability assessments
- Assist with the integration of low and zero carbon technologies into projects
- Prepare clear technical reports, simulation outputs, and client documentation
- Work collaboratively with internal design teams and external stakeholders
- Degree qualified in Architectural Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline
- Certified Non-Domestic Energy Assessor registered with an approved accreditation scheme (CIBSE or Elmhurst Energy)
- Ideally 3–5 years experience in a similar Building Physics or Sustainability role
- Strong proficiency in IES VE software
- Knowledge of SAP 10.2 would be advantageous
- Good understanding of UK Building Regulations and sustainability guidance
- Experience undertaking operational energy assessments and detailed HVAC modelling
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Passion for sustainable design and reducing carbon emissions within the built environment
