Part‑Time Town Planner / Senior Town Planner

Location: Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent.

Hours: 20‑25 hours per week (with potential to increase)

Carrington West is partnering with a small, well‑established architectural practice to recruit an experienced Town Planner or Senior Town Planner on a part‑time, permanent basis. This opportunity suits individuals seeking flexibility, including those returning to work after a career break, while still contributing meaningfully within a supportive and collaborative environment.

The Role

  • You will work closely with the director and wider team, supporting a range of planning projects across the practice.
  • Initially office‑based 5 days per week (reduced daily hours), transitioning to 3 days per week once established.
  • Core working hours typically between 10:00am and 4:00pm, with flexibility.
  • Approximately 20‑25 hours per week.
  • Opportunity to increase to full‑time for the right candidate.
  • Involvement in a broad mix of planning work and applications.

About You

  • Experience within either the public or private sector will be considered.
  • Suitable for Planner or Senior Planner level candidates.
  • Comfortable with an office‑based environment, particularly during the initial onboarding period.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car is required.
  • MRTPI is not essential.

Salary and Benefits

  • Salary is flexible and will be determined based on experience and market guidance.
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro rata).
  • 3% employer pension contribution.
