£70-85k + bonus + benefits. Note: This role requires specialist experience of the design and development of power converters (transformers / inductors) – ideally 50-200 kW, including magnetics.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop high-power isolated power converters, including magnetic component design of transformers and inductors.
- Apply a variety of topologies (Flyback, Forward, Half-bridge/Full-bridge, Push-pull, Resonant, etc.) to automotive/e-mobility, clean energy, wind, solar, grid, rail, industrial, and other applications.
- Lead projects through the complete design lifecycle from concept to series production.
- Provide technical leadership and customer-facing support.
- Perform simulation and analysis using Altium, Simscape, PLECS and other relevant tools.
- Address thermal management and cooling of power electronics systems.
Qualifications & Experience
- 8–10+ years of post-academic industry experience in power electronics design.
- Degree or master’s degree in electrical, electronic engineering or related discipline.
- Excellent track record in designing high-power isolated converters (50-200 kW+) with magnetics.
- Experience in automotive/e-vehicle, clean-energy or other high-power applications (preferred, not mandatory).
- Strong communication skills and experience working directly with customers.
- Experience in leading projects and technical leadership.
- Ability to take designs from concept to series production.
- Experience in thermal management/cooling of power electronics systems (a plus).
