Lead Health & Safety across two UK sites, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement. The role reports directly to the Head of HR and includes line‑management of two Facilities Team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of health and safety across both sites.
  • Design, develop and implement internal policy, ensuring employee awareness.
  • Conduct audits, report findings and recommend actions to the Operations Board monthly.
  • Carry out accident/near‑miss investigations and report findings to the Operations Board.
  • Deliver Toolbox Talks on high‑risk activities.
  • Identify hazards, create and review risk assessments and RAMS.
  • Keep up to date with health, safety & welfare legislation and communicate changes.
  • Develop and implement safe operational procedures within the existing H&S framework.
  • Lead in‑house training for managers and employees on health and safety.
  • Maintain inspection records and produce improvement reports.
  • Collaborate with external consultants to advance sustainability priorities.
  • Produce newsletters and bulletins communicating relevant information.
  • Ensure safe installation of equipment.
  • Support safe receipt, storage, handling and disposal of hazardous substances.
  • Lead specialist areas such as fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases.
  • Manage maintenance, security, compliance and upgrades/alterations at both sites.
  • Line‑manage the facilities team: time management, setting objectives and conducting annual appraisals.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Extensive experience in a similar health and safety role.
  • NEBOSH qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of HSE and sustainability legislation.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously, setting and managing priorities.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Relevant engineering industry experience is desirable.
  • High proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for site travel.
