Lead Health & Safety across two UK sites, ensuring compliance and continuous improvement. The role reports directly to the Head of HR and includes line‑management of two Facilities Team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of health and safety across both sites.
- Design, develop and implement internal policy, ensuring employee awareness.
- Conduct audits, report findings and recommend actions to the Operations Board monthly.
- Carry out accident/near‑miss investigations and report findings to the Operations Board.
- Deliver Toolbox Talks on high‑risk activities.
- Identify hazards, create and review risk assessments and RAMS.
- Keep up to date with health, safety & welfare legislation and communicate changes.
- Develop and implement safe operational procedures within the existing H&S framework.
- Lead in‑house training for managers and employees on health and safety.
- Maintain inspection records and produce improvement reports.
- Collaborate with external consultants to advance sustainability priorities.
- Produce newsletters and bulletins communicating relevant information.
- Ensure safe installation of equipment.
- Support safe receipt, storage, handling and disposal of hazardous substances.
- Lead specialist areas such as fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases.
- Manage maintenance, security, compliance and upgrades/alterations at both sites.
- Line‑manage the facilities team: time management, setting objectives and conducting annual appraisals.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Extensive experience in a similar health and safety role.
- NEBOSH qualification or equivalent experience.
- Extensive knowledge of HSE and sustainability legislation.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously, setting and managing priorities.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Relevant engineering industry experience is desirable.
- High proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for site travel.
