Quality Engineer Location: Melksham, Wiltshire

Salary: £40,000-£45,000

Bonus: Up to 10%

Pension: Matched up to 7.5%

About the Client: An established engineering and manufacturing business with a strong focus on quality, compliance and continuous improvement. They are now seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to support production, process control, new product introduction and supplier quality across a technically demanding product range.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead quality activities across production
  • Review processes, controls and documentation, driving corrective actions and improvements
  • Maintain SOPs, Control Plans and other quality documents
  • Carry out patrol, final and document audits
  • Support NPI, APQP, PFMEA and validation activities
  • Support design reviews, change control, fault finding and failure analysis
  • Carry out incoming inspection and support supplier quality activities
  • Lead root cause investigations and continuous improvement work
  • Support testing, SPC, process capability analysis and data-driven improvements
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and control of quality records and certification documents
  • Provide technical quality support across Engineering, Operations and Supply Chain

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in quality engineering or a related technical role
  • Strong understanding of quality engineering within a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics and technical specifications
  • Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with process control tools, data analysis and statistical methods
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and quality system requirements

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience in electronics manufacturing
  • Knowledge of IPC standards
  • Lead Auditor certification
  • Experience with supplier quality and incoming inspection
  • Knowledge of PFMEA, DFMEA, APQP and PPAP
  • Understanding of RoHS, REACH, traceability and product compliance requirements
  • Experience with Excel, Power BI, Power Automate or Visio
  • Six Sigma, SPC or Green Belt training
  • Experience with functional, environmental or reliability testing
  • Knowledge of Lean, Kaizen and continuous improvement tools
