Project Engineer reporting directly to the Head of Projects / Lead Project Engineer, providing engineering and technical support across all operational aspects of engineering work during project execution. Working within the Engineering Support Team to deliver technical solutions and procedures for all high-voltage (HV) and fibre optic operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Understanding specialist legislation (standards and regulations) in the Electrical Engineering & Fibre Optic field and develop plans & procedures to achieve and maintain full compliance.
- Ensure adherence to the necessary electrical / fibre optic safety and technical standards.
- Implement the required engineering standards and best practice techniques for electrical / fibre optic works, taking responsibility for meeting industry recognised standards and client requirements.
- Contribute towards improving technical and operational procedures.
- Provide electrical / fibre optic technical support and guidance for the SPIE Wind Connect functions ensuring compliance throughout the business.
- Operational understanding of all specialist electrical / fibre optic test equipment used within the business.
- Monitor, review, and critique all test equipment used in operational activities.
- Analyse for suitability, performance, and reliability of different manufacturers models.
- Support equipment hire department, with recommendations for selection of equipment in terms of excellence, reliability, and maintenance.
- Ensure electrical/ fibre optic test equipment is in good working order.
- Provide specialist functional electrical / fibre optic training to the operational personnel.
- Assist in the development of training courses and testing regimes.
- Support in providing technical expertise for client technical clarifications during tender, project lifecycle, and business development opportunities.
Role Requirements
- Degree qualified or have significant professional technical experience (minimum of five years) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering.
- City & Guilds Level 3 qualified in Fibre Optics Installation and Testing or professional technical experience (minimum of five years) in Fibre Optic Systems.
- Have a thorough understanding and knowledge of electrical / fibre optic test equipment, HV & LV distribution systems, Switchgear, Protection systems.
