Remit:
This position will suit a dynamic Production Engineer with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production systems. The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Role:
As Production Engineer, you will be responsible for optimizing manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness. The role bridges engineering design and production, ensuring products are manufactured as required and in line with quality standards. Responsibilities include:
- Designing, developing, and optimizing production processes and workflows
- Supporting production teams with technical expertise to resolve process issues
- Providing hands-on engineering support to manufacturing daily operations
- Analysing production data to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and quality issues
- Implementing and driving continuous improvement projects across the plant
- Developing and maintaining process documentation, SOPs, and work instructions
- Supporting new product introductions and process validations
- Troubleshooting process, equipment, and material issues in real time
- Identifying and implementing cost reduction opportunities without compromising quality
- Working closely with cross-functional teams to improve equipment reliability and efficiency
- Implementing immediate process improvements along with long-term improvements
Experience Requirements:
- Experience of small batch production, not continuous production lines
- Time served toolmaking or engineering-based apprenticeship an advantage (must be practical)
- Experience in jig design and manufacture
- Basic CAD and 3D printing experience is an advantage but not essential
- Creative and innovative thinking
- 5+ years’ experience within a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production systems
- Experience with process improvement methodologies
- Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles
- Strong problem-solving skills and analytical mindset
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and results-driven
