An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Transport Planner with experience in Healthy Streets, transport planning and project delivery to join a busy Safe and Healthy Streets team within a Local Authority environment. This role is primarily responsible for leading the development and delivery of neighbourhood-based Healthy Streets projects, including Healthy School Streets and low-traffic neighbourhood initiatives, ensuring schemes are delivered on time, within budget and in line with current transport, accessibility and environmental standards. The successful candidate will manage multiple stakeholders while supporting the delivery of wider transport, sustainability and public realm objectives across the Borough.
Responsibilities
- Leading the delivery of Healthy Streets, Healthy School Streets and local safety improvement schemes across the Borough
- Managing projects throughout feasibility, consultation, design and implementation stages
- Ensuring project timescales, budgets and programme objectives are effectively managed and achieved
- Providing updates and progress briefings to senior managers, elected Members and key stakeholders
- Consulting with stakeholders, external partners and members of the public regarding transport and public realm schemes
- Preparing reports, presentations and funding bid submissions to support project delivery
- Monitoring programme delivery, financial performance and project resource allocation
- Supporting the development of walking, cycling and bus priority improvements throughout the Borough
- Working collaboratively with internal teams including planning, regeneration, sustainability and inclusive economy
- Liaising with external organisations including Transport for London, the Greater London Authority and neighbouring Boroughs
- Supporting junior members of the team by allocating and overseeing smaller projects within the programme
- Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, transport policies and environmental standards
Qualifications
Previous experience within Transport Planning, Healthy Streets, Highways or Infrastructure Project Management is essential for this role. Experience within a Local Authority or public sector environment would also be beneficial.
