Lead Engineering Innovation in a High-Tech Global Environment
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Electrical Engineer to join a globally recognised engineering and technology organisation operating within advanced manufacturing solutions. Based in the greater Bristol area, this role offers the opportunity to lead and develop a growing team of Electrical Engineers while playing a key role in the design and delivery of highly engineered, safety‑critical industrial systems used by customers worldwide. The Role
Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will provide technical leadership across electrical engineering activities, supporting the development of complex equipment and systems from concept through to delivery and compliance validation. You will work at the centre of multidisciplinary engineering and product development teams, helping drive clarity, technical excellence, safety, and standardisation across projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate, and mentor a growing team of Electrical Engineers across multiple levels of experience
- Drive the delivery of robust, compliant, and cost‑effective electrical engineering solutions
- Take ownership of technical elements of product systems and sub‑systems, identifying risks and mitigation strategies
- Collaborate cross‑functionally to resolve engineering challenges and ensure successful project delivery
- Promote modularity, standardisation, and engineering best practice to maximise design reuse and efficiency
- Oversee safety verification, type testing, validation, and compliance activities for assigned systems
- Review and approve technical documentation, reports, and engineering outputs
- Support project coordination, governance, and engineering planning activities
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and professional development
About You
You will be a technically strong and people‑focused engineering professional with experience leading electrical engineering activities within a regulated engineering environment.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Degree‑qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- Significant experience applying electrical engineering and product development best practices within a relevant engineering industry
- Experience leading engineering teams and coordinating technical projects
- Strong understanding of regulated and compliance‑driven engineering environments
- Experience with product safety and applicable electrical standards and directives
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
Desirable Experience
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- Chartered Engineer status, or working towards chartership
- Experience within advanced technology sectors
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations such as: Low Voltage Directive EN/UL61010 EN60204 EMC Directive Functional Safety standards including EN 61508, EN 13849, EN 61511 HAZOP and FMEA methodologies SEMI S2 and SEMI S10 EN 12100 risk assessment standards
