An exciting commercial QS opportunity has arisen for an award winning family friendly Facade and Building Envelope contractor based near Poole; they are known for their excellent service and after care supplying and installing various types of facades and external envelope products within the public sector including data centres, MOD projects, train stations and on-going work with HS2 covering the south of England including the London region.
Responsibilities
- Projects vary from £25,000 to over £3 million
- Commercially responsible for 3-4 projects at any one time
- Office based role with occasional site visits mainly London, Home Counties and South of England
- Working with small friendly surveying team
- Cost reporting and regular reporting of accurate reconciliations and forecasting
- Keeping track of monthly application figures and ensuring relevant departments are aware of potential budgets, financial constraints
- Reviewing labour schedules and comparing to progress on site
- Candidate must be highly organised and keep chronological records of site progress and use information when submitting payment applications
- Pricing variations and changes in line with subcontract parameters
- Reviewing drawings and comparing construction drawings to tender drawings, keeping note of any changes
- Develop and foster collaborative working relationships with Client, Client Representatives and Supply Chain
- Checking site progress (visit site), record progress and transfer onto monthly payment applications whilst recording/actioning any changes to agreed contract scope
- Managing several sub-contracts and contractors
- Compiling sub-subcontract orders including enquiry and pricing documentation
- General subcontract procurement
- Timely submissions in accordance with Contract requirements to maximise profit and cash flow
- Identifying risks and making recommendations as to how risk can be overcome
- Be aware of contractual matters to protect the Company’s position at all times
- Good and clear communication skills
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of NEC forms of contract
- Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management to degree level or equivalent (2:1 or above)
- Full driving licence required
- CSCS card ideal but not a necessity
- Strong knowledge of construction principles
- Good IT skills generally, and proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word
- Self-motivated, detail orientated and well organised
- Be able to work well with a team
- Possess good communication skills
