PSR Rail Team are recruiting for a Permanent Geo-technical Engineer in Peterborough, but will predominantly be working from home 4 days per week. A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a skilled and motivated Geotechnical Engineer to join a growing team based in Peterborough. This role offers exposure to a wide range of ground engineering and construction projects, with involvement across both design and on-site delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out site investigations, including soil analysis and ground condition assessments
- Analyse and interpret geotechnical data, producing clear and accurate technical reports
- Develop recommendations for foundations, earthworks, and ground improvement solutions
- Provide geotechnical support throughout both design and construction phases
- Collaborate with clients, consultants, and site teams to ensure technical requirements are achieved
- Oversee site activities, ensuring compliance with design specifications and health & safety standards
- Identify and manage ground risks, resolving geotechnical challenges on site
- Contribute to value engineering initiatives and cost-effective design approaches
Requirements
- Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline
- Proven experience in a geotechnical or ground engineering role (contractor or consultancy)
- Solid understanding of site investigation methods and reporting
- Knowledge of UK standards and geotechnical design principles
- Ability to interpret borehole logs, laboratory data, and technical information
- Strong communication and problem-solving capabilities
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable Experience
- Background working on residential, commercial, or infrastructure projects
- Familiarity with software such as AutoCAD, GeoStudio, or similar tools
- Working towards or holding Chartered status (ICE or equivalent)
