A leading infrastructure contractor is seeking an experienced Freelance Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of a major highways programme across the North West. This is an excellent opportunity to join an established project team on a significant civil engineering project, taking responsibility for key commercial activities from project delivery through to final account.
Working closely with the Commercial Manager and operational teams, you will play a pivotal role in managing project costs, maximising value recovery, administering NEC contracts, and ensuring strong commercial performance throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the commercial performance of highways and civil engineering projects
- Produce and maintain CVRs, forecasts, and commercial reports
- Administer subcontract accounts from procurement through to final account
- Manage compensation events, variations, and change control processes
- Review and administer NEC contracts
- Prepare and submit applications for payment
- Monitor project cash flow and commercial performance
- Negotiate and agree final accounts with clients and subcontractors
- Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities
- Support project teams with contractual and commercial advice
- Ensure accurate reporting and forecasting throughout project delivery
- Previous experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within highways or civil engineering
- Strong NEC contract knowledge and administration experience
- Experience managing subcontractor accounts and change control processes
- Proven ability to produce CVRs, forecasts, and commercial reports
- Strong understanding of infrastructure project delivery
- Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work autonomously within a project environment
