My client is a respected contractor delivering a range of highways and infrastructure projects across the UK. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Highways Quantity Surveyor with strong NEC contract knowledge and highways experience to support the successful commercial delivery of their projects.
What You Will Be Doing
As a Highways Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the commercial management of highways projects from inception through to final account. You will be doing the following:
- Managing project costs and budgets throughout the project lifecycle.
- Administering and managing NEC contracts.
- Preparing, reviewing and negotiating subcontractor packages.
- Producing valuations, applications for payment and final accounts.
- Identifying, pricing and managing compensation events and variations.
- Monitoring project performance and reporting on commercial progress.
- Working closely with project managers, engineers and clients to ensure successful project delivery.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and internal teams.
What You'll Need
To be considered for this Highways Quantity Surveyor position, you will have:
- Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the highways sector.
- Strong working knowledge and practical experience of NEC contracts (essential).
- Experience managing commercial aspects of civil engineering or highways projects.
- Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- A full UK driving licence.
Salary & Benefits
- Salary around Β£55,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
- Car allowance or company car.
- Hybrid working with 3 days on site in Penrith and 2 days working from home.
- Lodging provided for approximately 2 nights each week when working on site, with flexibility depending on project requirements.

Location & Working Pattern
This role is based in Penrith with a hybrid working arrangement. You will typically spend three days per week on site and two days working from home. Flexible lodging will be provided for approximately two nights each week to support those travelling to site.
