About the Role

We are seeking a highly capable Electrical Design Engineer to support the delivery of a major energy infrastructure project, with a strong focus on Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and grid integration. You will be responsible for delivering electrical design work from concept through to construction and commissioning, working across both low voltage (LV) and high voltage (HV) systems up to 33kV. A key aspect of the role will involve designing how BESS assets connect into the wider transmission network (up to 400kV). This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to grid-scale energy projects and contribute across the full project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver LV and HV electrical designs (up to 33kV) from concept through to detailed design and commissioning.
  • Produce high-quality design deliverables including:
    • Electrical layouts
    • Cable schedules
    • Lighting and HLV designs
  • Support the integration of complex systems, including:
    • Battery systems
    • Inverters
    • SCADA
    • Switchgear
  • Ensure compliance with UK standards and design governance processes.
  • Contribute to grid connection design for large-scale BESS projects.

Key Requirements

  • Strong background in HV/LV electrical design, ideally up to 33kV.
  • Experience working on BESS, renewable energy, or grid connection projects.
  • Proven ability to deliver technical design outputs and documentation.
  • Experience integrating multiple electrical systems within complex infrastructure projects.
  • Good understanding of UK industry standards and design processes.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience interfacing with Grid or transmission network operators.
  • Background in large-scale infrastructure or complex energy projects.
  • Exposure to grid-scale BESS or renewable energy developments.

Why Apply?

  • Work on a high-profile, technically complex energy project.
  • Gain hands‑on exposure to grid-scale BESS and transmission connections.
  • Be involved across the full project lifecycle - from design through to delivery.
  • Join a forward-thinking team at the forefront of the energy transition.

If you're a technically strong electrical design engineer with experience in HV systems and energy infrastructure, we'd love to hear from you.
