Multitask Recruitment Solutions are supporting a well-established and growing engineering manufacturer in the recruitment of an experienced Engineering Supervisor to oversee daily shopfloor operations within a busy fabrication environment. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone with a strong background in engineering production, fabrication, or sheet metal manufacturing who can drive productivity, maintain quality standards, and ensure work flows efficiently through the factory.
The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating labour, managing workflow across multiple production departments, and ensuring manufacturing targets are achieved safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate day-to-day operations across the engineering shopfloor
- Ensure production schedules are achieved and jobs progress through fabrication on time
- Oversee workflow across departments including laser cutting, fabrication, welding, and finishing
- Monitor labour utilisation and allocate resources effectively to maximise productivity
- Identify production bottlenecks and implement practical solutions to minimise downtime
- Track production hours and job performance against estimated timings
- Lead, motivate, and support shopfloor personnel to maintain performance standards
- Work closely with production planning and management teams to ensure operational efficiency
- Maintain high standards of quality control and reduce rework where possible
- Ensure full compliance with health & safety procedures and manufacturing best practices
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across production operations
- Proven experience within an engineering, fabrication, or manufacturing environment
- Previous experience in a Production Supervisor, Fabrication Supervisor, or Team Leader role
- Strong understanding of engineering production processes and shopfloor workflow management
- Experience supervising skilled fabrication, welding, or manufacturing teams
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and production documentation
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach
- Confident communicator with the ability to lead by example on the shopfloor
- Experience using production/job tracking systems is advantageous (e.g. Progress Plus)
