We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Technician to carry out heavy maintenance on a fleet of vehicles in Derby on an 18‑month contract. The role pays £19.59 per hour PAYE or £26.59 per hour Umb, 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday. Potential overtime available.

The candidate must have experience in the maintenance or overhaul of rolling stock or heavy equipment/vehicles such as diggers, plant, tractors, HGVs, armoured/tracked vehicles, etc.

Your Tasks:

  • Carry out maintenance and overhaul of rail vehicles to laid down standards and procedures.
  • Work on the underframes of rail vehicles to refit/replace components as part of the overhaul.

Your Profile:

  • Essential: Experienced engineer, qualified to NVQ Level 3.
  • Proven experience of either involvement in rail vehicle heavy maintenance activities such as underframe or bogie overhauls or experience in a heavy engineering industry such as plant, REME, HGV, PSV, tractors.
  • Understanding of depot operations, along with working knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering (desirable).
