Our client is a well-established general construction company based in Mansfield. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of work, they are looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor who is looking to join a stable, friendly and growing construction business. The company works across a range of general construction projects and can consider candidates at different levels of experience, from Assistant / Intermediate level through to more experienced Quantity Surveyors.

The Role

  • Preparing and reviewing project costings
  • Assisting with tenders, quotations and pricing documents
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications and contract information
  • Preparing valuations and applications for payment
  • Managing variations and change control
  • Monitoring project costs, budgets and profitability
  • Liaising with clients, subcontractors and suppliers
  • Supporting procurement of subcontractor packages and materials
  • Preparing cost reports and commercial updates
  • Attending site and project meetings when required
  • Supporting projects through to final account

The Candidate

  • Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Assistant
  • Experience within general construction, building, refurbishment or related sectors
  • Good commercial awareness
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Good communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to work with drawings, specifications and project documentation
  • Good organisation and attention to detail
  • Competency with Microsoft Excel
  • A professional, reliable and proactive attitude
  • A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or Construction would be beneficial
