Your new role involves taking ownership of assigned projects, focusing on healthcare, public sector, education, and commercial sectors. You will act as the primary client contact for both technical and commercial matters, contribute to business development activities, and help grow client relationships. You will support senior leadership with project planning, resource allocation, and delivery strategies. Leading and coordinating the electrical design team, you will ensure successful project outcomes and mentor junior engineers. Providing technical guidance on healthcare projects, you will help the team meet sector-specific standards and requirements. Collaboration with other engineering disciplines will be essential to deliver integrated solutions. You will assist senior management with commercial aspects, including bidding for new work and managing project finances. Producing detailed engineering designs using industry-standard software such as IES, IES-VE, AutoCAD, MagiCAD, and Revit, you will ensure compliance with all relevant standards and energy efficiency/net-zero carbon goals.

What you’ll need to succeed:

  • Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering (BEng or MEng).
  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it).
  • Membership of relevant professional bodies (e.g., CIBSE, IET); IHEEM membership is highly desirable.
  • A strong background in UK healthcare projects is desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years’ post-graduate experience in a UK design consultancy.
  • Expertise in mechanical building services design, with a solid understanding of technical standards, legislation, and best practice.
  • Commercial awareness and experience managing project budgets and financial performance.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, ensuring delivery on time and within scope.
  • A proactive, positive approach with excellent communication skills to inspire confidence in clients and colleagues.
