The Opportunity - Maintenance Engineer
I am recruiting a couple of Maintenance Engineers to join the site maintenance team at our Trafford Park manufacturing facility. This is a hands-on role supporting a busy heavy industrial environment, where your ability to diagnose faults quickly, restore production, and drive reliability will be key. While the role is primarily electrical, you’ll also be expected to confidently support mechanical-based maintenance activities alongside the wider engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing responsive breakdown support to keep production running safely and efficiently
- Carrying out electrical fault finding, repair, and diagnostic work on production machinery
- Completing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules and documenting work completed
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment reliability and uptime
- Working safely in line with site Health & Safety standards, risk assessments and permits to work
- Assisting with mechanical maintenance tasks when required (e.g., bearings, belts, guards, alignment)
- Liaising with production teams and external contractors to coordinate repairs and maintenance activity
- Ensuring accurate completion of maintenance records and reporting recurring issues to improve reliability
Ideal Candidate
- Proven experience as an Industrial Maintenance Engineer within manufacturing, production, or heavy industry
- Strong fault-finding capability on electrical systems including motors, control panels, relays, sensors, drives/inverters
- Comfortable supporting basic maintenance tasks as part of a multi-skilled team
- Ability to work safely under pressure during breakdown situations and prioritise effectively
- Good communication skills and a professional, team-focused approach
Qualifications / Certifications
- Recognised Electrical Engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) (essential)
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (desirable)
- Experience in industrial control systems / PLC fault finding (advantageous)
- IOSH / H&S awareness training (beneficial)
