We are recruiting for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join a growing contractor delivering civil engineering and infrastructure projects across the UK. This senior commercial role oversees the financial and contractual performance of multiple projects, supporting operational teams and maintaining strong client relationships. The role is based primarily in an office in Hertfordshire, with occasional UK‑wide travel for site meetings (typically a couple of times per month). Project values typically sit around £1m, with schemes ranging from £250k up to £6m.
Key Responsibilities
- Commercial management of multiple live projects
- Contract administration under NEC3 and NEC4
- Management of change control, compensation events and early warning notices
- Cost forecasting, reporting and margin control
- Support with programme and risk register integration
- Client‑facing commercial liaison and internal support to delivery teams
- Mentoring or overseeing commercial staff where required
Suitable Candidates
- Proven experience in a senior Quantity Surveying or Managing Quantity Surveying role
- Strong background within civil engineering, infrastructure or related project environments
- Detailed knowledge of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts
- Experience handling compensation events and early warning notices
- Understanding of contract types including A, C and E
- Strong commercial reporting and forecasting capability
- Ability to work both strategically and hands‑on
