Blackburn, Lancashire £48,000 per annum + Overtime (Time & a Half) 4 on 4 off Shift Pattern
- Days: 6:00am – 6:00pm (2:00pm finish on Saturdays)
- No Saturday night shifts

Due to continued investment and expansion, I am looking to recruit a Maintenance Engineer to join the engineering team at their modern manufacturing facility in Blackburn.

The Role – Maintenance Engineer
Working as part of a skilled engineering team, you'll play a key role in maintaining production equipment, responding to breakdowns and delivering planned preventative maintenance across a busy FMCG manufacturing site.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys problem solving, working on automated production equipment and contributing to continuous improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across production machinery.
- Respond quickly and effectively to electrical and mechanical breakdowns.
- Diagnose faults using root cause analysis and implement long‑term solutions.
- Fault find on PLC‑controlled machinery.
- Maintain electrical control systems, motors, drives, sensors and automation equipment.
- Support continuous improvement projects to maximise plant efficiency.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are accurately recorded using the CMMS system.
- Work closely with Production, Engineering and Management teams to minimise downtime.
- Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment.
- Mentor and support fellow engineers where required.
- Ensure all work complies with Health & Safety, HACCP, GMP and COSHH standards.
About You
We're looking for someone with
- Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
- BTEC, ONC, HNC or HND in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or similar).
- Proven experience within an FMCG, food manufacturing or high‑speed production environment.
- Strong electrical fault‑finding skills with good mechanical knowledge.
- Experience working with PLC‑controlled machinery.
- Knowledge of process control systems.
- Experience using CMMS maintenance systems.
- Understanding of preventative maintenance strategies.
- Knowledge of HACCP, GMP and COSHH.
- A proactive attitude with excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Passion for continuous improvement and engineering excellence.
