A growing engineering business is looking to appoint a Health and Safety Manager to support a range of technically complex projects across Kent and the wider South East. This is a key role within the business, working closely with senior leadership, operational teams and site-based staff to improve standards, strengthen systems and ensure Health and Safety is embedded properly across live project environments.

The role would suit someone who is comfortable operating in a hands-on, practical environment and can build credibility with engineers, project teams and senior stakeholders.

The position will involve:

  • Leading Health and Safety across multiple engineering projects
  • Supporting site teams with practical advice and guidance
  • Reviewing and improving Health and Safety systems, procedures and documentation
  • Carrying out audits, inspections and incident investigations
  • Working closely with operational leaders to improve standards
  • Supporting projects for security-sensitive clients
  • Promoting a positive, practical and proportionate safety culture

The successful candidate will likely have:

  • Experience in Health and Safety within engineering, construction, infrastructure, manufacturing or a similar technical environment
  • NEBOSH Certificate as a minimum, ideally Diploma or working towards
  • Strong knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation
  • Experience working across site-based or project-led environments
  • The ability to influence operational teams without overcomplicating things
  • Strong communication skills and a practical approach
  • Existing security clearance, or the ability to obtain it

Security clearance is important for this role due to the nature of the client base, so candidates must be eligible to work on security-sensitive projects.
