Following a sustained period of growth and a strong pipeline of secured work, they are now seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to strengthen their commercial team and support the delivery of multiple residential developments in the Bedford region.
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute Senior Quantity Surveyor with residential groundworks experience to join a reputable and expanding contractor. The successful candidate will take a leading role in managing the commercial and financial aspects of multiple projects, ensuring profitability, compliance, and effective cost control from tender through to final account.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial management of multiple residential groundworks projects
- Prepare, review, and manage budgets, cost plans, and valuations
- Oversee interim valuations, variations, and final account agreements
- Monitor project costs, forecasts, and cash flow across sites
- Provide commercial guidance and support to site teams and junior QS staff
- Identify and implement value engineering opportunities
- Maintain accurate commercial records and reporting systems
- Contribute to monthly CVRs and financial performance reviews
Skills & Experience Required
- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within residential groundworks or civil engineering
- Strong commercial and contractual knowledge
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to mentor and support junior team members
- Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management (HNC/HND/Degree)
