Role Summary
Assist with managing the day-to-day activities within the electrical and controls team, ensuring technical coordination with all other internal and external disciplines whilst maintaining and developing processes, procedures and engineering standards. Other activities will include but are not limited to troubleshooting, sales and application support and team building while minimising business risk.
Main Responsibilities
- Administration (timesheets, absence monitoring, banked hours, holidays, inductions and leaving interviews).
- Monitor design progress.
- Review and sign off designs, ensuring they fit for purpose.
- Allocate and monitor resources.
- Liaise with mechanical, electrical and control engineers.
- Receive internal and external audits of the design process.
- Conceptual design.
- Support assembly shop.
- Perform engineering calculations.
- Attend/lead design reviews.
- Test and development of new machinery.
- Problem solving during machinery test.
- Brainstorming.
- Complete engineering design estimates.
- Monitor budgetary performance.
- Allocate and agree corrective action for non-conformances.
- Monitor design to ensure customer specification compliance.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time and budget, this may include troubleshooting through to customer acceptance and post project learning.
- Provide technician sales support and validation of sales proposals when required.
- Support the application department providing solution advice, system configuration, performance criteria, cost reviews, maximising margin and minimising risk and apply resources as required.
- Develop pragmatic and cost-effective strategies in response to client requirements.
- Report problems and deficiencies in the design and brief.
- Maintain files and records throughout the duration of the contract.
- Suggest solutions to problems based on understanding of relevant technologies.
- Visit customers on a worldwide basis, as required to resolve problems and test machines/systems.
- Ensure statutory and company procedures and practices are maintained.
- Ensure all activities support the business directions of faster, cheaper and smaller machines.
- Work with and support other departments to ensure business objectives are achieved.
- Deal with specifiers and/or suppliers/distributors.
- Promote a safe working environment ensuring compliance with all current legislation.
